Nouns fall into subcategories which do not all fix exactly the same mold:
Common Noun: girl, teacher, and ball They create a general category. Proper Noun: Mary, California, Fifth Avenue Capital letters and represent a specific noun. | Concrete Nouns: Nouns that you can visualize table, chair, flag, hairdreser Abstract Nouns: Ideas or concepts with no visual image sincerity, construction, foolhardiness

Animate Nouns: Human and Animals Human Nouns: Who is making that noise? He is going to school. Non Human Nouns: What is making that noise? Inanimate Nouns Place thing or idea: He went to the mall. His complaints are excessive. Please fulfill this order. | Count Nouns A noun you can directly count one bean, two beans, three beans They have a plural form, they can't stand alone as singular, and can occur with "a" or "an". (too) many beans (too) few beans more beans fewer beans Noncount nouns A noun you must add a lexical boundary to count: Rice: grain of rice, piece of rice, a cup of rice. They do not have a plural form, they can stand along as singular, and can not occur with "a" or "an" (too) much rice (too) little rice more rice less rice
